
Greenville United Football Club will travel to Apex, North Carolina, to face Briar United Football Club at Pleasant Park for the second qualifying round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
Greenville United is now one step closer to securing one of the sixteen coveted remaining spots in the 2026 U.S. Open Cup proper. The Bucks will be facing the Fall 2024 UPSL Mid Atlantic Champions Briar United, who are also making their U.S. Open Cup debut this weekend.
“Briar United will be a tough opponent, and we are ready for the challenge,” said Head Coach Aaron Okwei. “We really appreciate our fans’ energy as we participate in our first ever Open Cup. It’s an exciting match-up, and I’m looking forward to a great game.”
The U.S. Open Cup, one of the world’s longest-running soccer tournaments, brings together clubs from every level of the American soccer pyramid. Greenville United’s advancement reflects the club’s rapid rise and growing ambitions, built on a foundation of strong community support and competitive success.
Fans are encouraged to make the trip to Apex to support the Bucks in this historic endeavor. The Greenville United Buck’s Brigade, GUFC’s supporters’ section, will be going to TapStation in downtown Apex for a prematch social starting at 4:30 PM.
GUFC has created a roster of twenty five players for the Open Cup run, with many players from the 2025 NPSL Season returning. In addition, Greenville has added multiple other players, including former Atlanta United and Charleston Battery player Jeffery Otoo.
